    The Art of the Portrait

Capturing the likeness of a subject is a difficult skill to master, but students in this workshop will get the tips to hone their portraiture practice. The class starts with a series of drawing exercises that focus on the face, and participants will learn to see the human visage through line, proportion, and values. The class will then paint a live model, and explore color mixing, application techniques, and composition.
This 3-day class at the Ah Haa School for the Arts is meant for intermediate to advanced level painters, and students can use their medium of choice — watercolor, oil, or acrylic. Local painter Meredith Nemirov is the instructor, and the class is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 22-24. Tuition is $315.
