Coming Back to Telluride!

Fri Oct. 03, 2014

Driving through the mountains in the fall has always been one of my favorite things to do in Colorado, especially in the southwest. The golden aspens and sporadic rainbows build the anticipation of arriving to this small gem hidden in the San Juan’s that I am lucky enough to call home…Telluride. After spending the past year traveling in South America, the feeling of returning to this beautiful place is indescribable.  There really is no other place like it. While traveling and discovering new countries, cultures, and landscapes is absolutely a beautiful experience, coming home to Telluride I get to discover its beauty all over again.
The first day back, I walked the river trail and then down main street to grab a cup of coffee at the Steaming Bean with a friend and watched the rain pour down outside. A few hours later, the clouds opened up and sent a rainbow into town while Ingram Falls raged in the background. The following day, I hiked Bear Creek with blue skies and the warm sun shining on my face. No matter how many times I hike Bear Creek, it never gets old. This short day hike offers a unique beauty with each season.
These are only a few things I have checked off my long list of things to do when back in Telluride and there is still so much to do. Whether you’re a long time local, a returning Telluride enthusiast or a first-time visitor, Telluride has something for you. It has a memorable effect on every person who arrives. This place fills your heart, clears your mind and reminds you just how precious this life really is. It is impossible to leave, and if you do, you will be back.
